The Craft of Time is now open for registration!

And, for a limited time: Take an additional $25 off the course fee for registrations postmarked by December 14, 2012!

The joyful distractions of the holiday season sometimes take us away from our writing. This December, I am pleased to provide a limited-time discount, in addition to the early-enroll discount I always offer, to help you give yourself the gift of creativity and community in the new year. I would be honored to write with you!

Writers in all genres/at all levels are invited to participate in this winter creative writing workshop! Class runs January 23-March 20 (8 meetings; no class March 6).
Joan Silber says, “Time draws the shape of stories.” Sven Birkerts says readers engage where the past “deepens and gives authority to the present, and the present […] creates the necessary depth of field” by which meanings of the past can be more fully seen. In terms of craft, time is a challenging force to contend with in our narratives. Join Kate Asche in an Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) generative writing workshop for all genres. Explore various approaches for rendering time in your own work and that of others. Expand your craft toolbox as you play with multiple linear and non-linear structures. Generate new work weekly, and (if you like) receive gentle critique on one short selection of writing. Talk casually with other writers as you connect more deeply in our writing community. Snacks and tea provided.

Textbook(s): We will read two books in this class: The Art of Time in Fiction by Joan Silber (Graywolf, ISBN 978-1-55597-530-2) and The Art of Time in Memoir by Sven Birkerts (Graywolf, ISBN 978-1-55597-489-3).

DETAILS: Class runs January 23-March 20 (8 meetings; no class March 6). For complete details and registration information, reply to this email or visitwww.kateasche.com/workshops
